Handbrake

The final addition was the Handbrake and its cables. The green handbrake release button is sprung and can be operated. The spring cord contains an inner wire for "shape" but not function. The real car's handbrake cable was in two parts. 1] A rear cable with adjusters at each end by the wheels. 2] A primary stiffer cable from the handbrake lever via the load increasing linkage to the rear cable. The mechanical advantage between handbrake lever and the wheels of the real car is around 10:1. I would have liked to reproduce the linkage more precicely but at this scale couldn't think of any suitable Meccano parts, or how to mount them. I was rather pleased with my clear plastic plate handbrake lever mounting.
